Pavia NMR Lab

University of Pavia

Department of Physics / Condensed Matter Section

The research activities will be mainly carried out at the Physics Department of the University of Pavia, Section of Condensed Matter (http://fisica.unipv.it), where since many decades research activities at the forefront of Physics of Matter are performed. Beyond traditional research of fundamental character (semiconductors, insulators, magnetic and superconducting materials, materials science, optics and photonics), growing importance is given to applied and interdisciplinary research, especially related to areas of great strategical interest such as biomedical physics, renewable energies and photovoltaics, cultural heritage, Information and Communication Technology.

Magnetization and transport measurements:

  • Quantum Design MPMS-XL7 SQUID Magnetometer and transport facility for measurements in the temperature range 1.8- 600 K and in magnetic fields up to 7 Tesla. A pressure clamp allows to perform magnetization measurements up to 12 kbar

The muSR experiments will be held at the Paul Scherrer Institut in Switzerland (http://lmu.web.psi.ch/) and the ISIS pulsed neutron and muon source at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire (England) (http://www.isis.stfc.ac.uk/groups/muons), which are world-leading centres for research in the physical and life sciences.
